About
Ponderato is a privacy-first, local-only portfolio optimizer for self-directed investors. No brokerage connections, no account required.
The app works in three steps:
- Upload — Import your holdings via CSV. The app fetches market data, detects investment themes, and flags overlaps.
- Allocate — Adjust theme weights and risk parameters to match your investment goals.
- Rebalance — Get a concrete trade list with Black-Litterman optimization and before/after risk analytics.
Your portfolio data is processed on the server but never stored — sessions are held in memory only and expire after 1 hour. Nothing is sent to third parties except what's described below.

Your Data
Ponderato sends limited data to two external services:
- LLM provider (Google Gemini) — Receives ticker symbols and company names only, for theme grouping and text parsing. No portfolio values, share counts, or personal data are sent.
- yfinance — Receives ticker symbols only, for fetching market prices, metadata, and historical data.
No portfolio data is stored on the server. Sessions are held in memory only and expire after 1 hour. Nothing is written to disk.
Privacy
No cookies are used beyond the session cookie required for CSRF protection and session state. No analytics, tracking pixels, or fingerprinting. No data is sold or shared.
The LLM provider's own privacy policy applies to the ticker symbols sent for theme detection.
